Why I chose Invasive Species I have to say that the topic of invasive species first sparked my interest because it just sounded exotic and interesting, but I decided to do my project on invasive species for a variety of reasons. I have always had a love and interest in animals and the world around us, so any oportunity to learn more about them I welcome. I also chose invasive species as my topic because it was something that had a significant impact on the environment, but it was also something that was not as well know as other issues like pollution, temperature change, and deforestation. I feel that by educating myself and that I can educate others and get them involved with or aware of the many issues surronding invasive species. I also think that invasive species are a serious problem that aren't receiving the amount of attention that they should be. I think that invasive species is large, complicated problem that can't just be left alone. I chose to do my website on them because of their alarming affects on ecosystems across the globe, where they are taking over local populations and causing problems everywhere.
How Invasive species Impact Me Personally Although invasive species do not impact me directly at the moment, I have had some history with invasive species. My family and I used to live in this house that had a couple of large evergreen trees in the backyard when I was younger. We almost didn't really know a lot about english ivy, nor did we notice how much it grown around the base and up the trunks of the couple trees that we had. One day, one of my dad's friends was over and he had noticed the large amount of ivy growing on our tree and told us that we needed to consult a professional and remove the ivy. We consultanted a professional who removed the ivy properly for us, but he told us that he has seen alot of trees die from ivy invasion, and that if we had waited too long, the same could have befallen our own tree. This experience really left me thinking about how some of the things that we take for granted or don't pay much mind to, can be just as or even more dangerous than a sign flashing a warning.
